Our Environment

The Clarion Hotel Limerick is an environmentally conscious and responsible company who recognise that it is our responsibility to protect and preserve the environment wherever possible. We are committed to analysing every aspect of our business in terms of impact on the environment and taking positive action to ensure that our company has the least harmful effect on the environment possible.

In order to ensure a prosperous, healthy and sustainable future for everyone, including our children – we need to use resources wisely today.

Environmental Policy

Our goal is to achieve continuous improvement and to ensure that we comply with environmental legislation as a minimum level of performance. Our environmental initiatives are based around the five key words: “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Sustainable, Local”.  We are committed to evaluating and reviewing any initiatives we action to ensure that they remain progressive.

Below are some of the initiatives we have already completed and some we are working on:

• The Clarion Hotel Limerick has strict recycling policies and a recycled waste target, which is monitored and evaluated on a regular basis. Targets are stretched wherever possible.
• The Clarion Hotel Limerick currently recycle: paper, plastic, glass, cardboard, polythene wrappers, tin cans, mobile phones, waste cooking oil, toner cartridges, batteries and fluorescent lighting tubes.
• The Clarion Hotel Limerick source local and organic produce wherever possible to support the local community and reduce “food miles”. This also helps to maintain a high level of food quality for our guests.
• All obsolete equipment at the Clarion Hotel Limerick such as uniforms, furniture etc are given to local charities and businesses
• The Clarion Hotel Limerick have a dedicated “Green Team” to help drive in new initiatives are maintain the Hotels momentum.
• The Clarion Hotel Limerick provide dedicated staff training, on induction and quarterly, to ensure all of our staff are aware of the necessary environmental initiatives and targets that they can help achieve during their working day.
• The Clarion Hotel Limerick work closely with our suppliers to carry out regular monitoring of energy and water consumption to minimise wastage.
• At the Clarion Hotel Limerick all chemicals that we use are carefully selected to ensure they are as environmentally friendly as possible and we use refillable chemical containers as much as possible.
• The Clarion Hotel Limerick order bulk of all goods wherever possible to help reduce haulage miles
• The Clarion Hotel Limerick encourage the use of local transport and cycles for our staff and have fitted cycle racks in many of our Hotels.
• The Clarion Hotel Limerick is working towards becoming a “Paperless Hotel” and encourage our guests to have their bills and receipts e-mailed to them rather than printed at the Front Desk.
• At the Clarion Hotel Limerick all of our windows are thermally insulated and guests can control the temperature in each guest room to their personal preference
• At the Clarion Hotel Limerick we have switched to energy saving light bulbs to reduce the amount of electricity used in the Hotel
• The Clarion Hotel Limerick have taken steps to reduce the amount of water used in the Hotel by fitting water saving taps and shower heads in all guest rooms.
• The Clarion Hotel Limerick regularly monitor our use of water and energy and have set targets for their reduction which are evaluated and stretched where possible.
